Interdisciplinary Research Project
Historically, the meteorological phenomena observed in everyday life have been both subjects of pictorial representation as well as objects of philosophical scrutiny. The interdisciplinary research project METEΩΡΑ seeks to further explore and deepen our understanding of these historical representations, with a specific focus on the visual and theoretical representations of clouds, rain, snow and wind. The project spans a broad chronological range, from ancient and late antique sources, through medieval Arabic and Latin traditions, to the late Renaissance and the early modern period.
